’Ichabod Crane or The Legend of Sleepy Hallow’ Review (Post #34)
Last night was the first time I had ever seen The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad in its entirety. I had grown up watching the second half of this film Ichabod Crane or The Legend of Sleepy Hallow. It had always been a favorite of mine but besides releasing these films together Disney had also sold these as separate films on VHS and I had never seen The Wind in the Willows. Now both of these films were great light hearted fun, though they don’t reach the level of some of Disney’s other feature films.
As I said this film is separated into two short films. The Wind in the Willows is the first film that tells the classic story about the Mr. Toad and his problem with being reckless, especially with his money. The Wind in the Willows is delightful and even had a ride at Walt Disney World made after this film called Mr Toad’s Wild Ride. Though the first selection of this movie was fun it doesn’t live up to Ichabod Crane or The Legend of Sleepy Hallow in my opinion.
Ichabod Crane or The Legend of Sleepy Hallow is such a classic story to me and I always loved the songs and animation in this story about the infamous tall and gangly Ichabod Crane. As usual I laughed and remembered back to the times as a child when I thought this one of the scariest movies ever.
Both of the shorts hold up on their own but Sleepy Hallow take the cake as my favorite. A fun classic!
